Food Trucks @ Stove Works - Inman Park

Krog Street Inman Park

I'm sure most people are already aware of this but just in case you didn't know, check it out.  Every Wednesday is Food Truck Wednesday at the Stove Works parking lot!  The following trucks are participating with more to be added hopefully.
-  Jake’s Ice cream
-  The Good Food Truck
-  Yumbii Tacos
-  King of Pops
-  Rattletrap Beverages
The hours are from 11 am to 2 p.m.  Stove Works is located on Krog Street.  It's where Rathbun's restaurant and Krog Bar are located.  There is a huge parking lot and that's where the trucks will be.  It's easy, it's great food, and it's cheaper than eating out at a restaurant or your company cafeteria.

**Update: It seems like different trucks are showing up on different Wednesdays.  Tex's Tacos was there a couple of weeks ago.  Today The Pup Truck was there, Sweet Auburn BBQ, and Just Loaf'n (Po Boys) in addition to Yumbii and the Good Food Truck.  It's a good thing having some variety in our food trucks!

**Update 2: The W.O.W.! food truck was there today in addition to Yumbii, Tex's Tacos, King of Pops, and Jake's.  I opted for Tex's Tacos.  Their Lime Fries were delicious!

**Update 3:  The food truck craze eventually fizzled out.  It was fun at first but then it just seemed overpriced and not good quality.  Why drive or walk to a food truck and stand outside to eat average food when you can drive or walk to a restaurant, sit down, have a waiter or waitress, and great food for less?

The Pendleton and Gatsby - Inman Park

The Pendleton Euclid Ave

The Pendleton Apartments were built in 1905 by the original founder of Coca-Cola as apartments for his workers. The Pendleton is located right next door to Asa Candler's original mansion which I blogged about here.

The Gatsby Dixie Ave

The Gatsby was built in 1930.  It was an apartment complex but now has been converted to condominiums.

It seems like there are mixed reactions to the apartments and condos in the neighborhood.  Some people have great memories of living at the Gatsby or Pendleton 20 or 30 years ago and having the time of their lives.  Eventually they grew up and ended up purchasing a home in Inman Park.  Some of the long time residents have a completely opposite opinion of the buildings.  They feel they shouldn't be in the neighborhood and treat the residents as second class citizens.  I say we should be friendly to everyone in the neighborhood whether they own a victorian mansion or live in an apartment.  Live and let live people.

Inman Park Cooperative Preschool

Inman Park Cooperative Preschool Waddell Street

Founded in 1981, the Inman Park Cooperative Preschool has two campuses in the Inman Park neighborhood.  One on Edgewood Ave and one on Waddell Street. They have a mix of indoor and outdoor activities. The Wee OC outdoor play area was set up so the children would have a dedicated space where they could explore, plant and play.

The staff really takes an active interest in the little tykes and they make sure to include the parents in whatever is going on.  For more information click here

Euclid Ave Part 2 - Inman Park

Corner of Euclid and Elizabeth
I've posted about homes located on Euclid Ave in Inman Park in the past here.  I thought there were a couple of additional homes worth a look.  The above home located on the corner of Euclid Ave and Elizabeth Street was built at the turn-of-the-Century by Coca Cola magnate, Asa Candler.  The home in the photo below is a gorgeous place but it's tough to get a good picture because there are so many trees and shrubs in the front so I settled for the side view.

Yoga Samadhi - Inman Park

Yoga Inman Park Style

Yoga Samadhi is located in the Inman Park neighborhood in the area right behind Sauced on Waddell Street. The place has a really laid-back vibe. There are two studios.  The upstairs studio, which is clean, bright, relaxing and spacious, though can get pretty warm inside so dress accordingly. The additional studio is a bit smaller but still a comfortable room. The atmosphere is friendly & inviting to new-comers.  The best way to describe it is industrial zen with tin ceilings and duct work.  Very cool. There is plenty of parking as well so you won't have a hassle trying to find a spot.
The instructors are nice, down-to-earth, dedicated and experienced. They offer a variety of classes throughout the week at several different times,  and as a bonus  your first class is free!  They also offer delicious tea which is made for every class.
Give it a try.  You never know, you might become one of *those* people you see walking down the street wearing yoga pants and carrying a yoga mat.  For more information click here.

Inman Park Stone Churches

Edgewood Ave Inman Park

Inman Park has two wonderful stone churches.  Inman Park United Methodist Church is a historic church that is located in Inman Park on Edgewood Ave. The congregation dates from 1866.  The church is constructed of Stone Mountain granite and was designed by Willis Franklin Denny, II. For more information click here.  Mr. Denny also designed Rhodes Hall Baptist Church located in Inman Park on Degress Ave shown in the photo at the bottom.

Street Art - Inman Park Style

Catlanta Dekalb Ave

I thought I would post a few street art shots.  I've posted in the past about street art in Little 5 points here.  And I've posted about graffiti (the bad kind) in Inman Park here. I do love some good street art if it's done right.  There are some really talented people out there for sure.
